Winter Gaming Bucket List

A few months ago I made an autumn gaming bucket list, and I decided I wanted to do one for each season. While it’s not quite winter yet, it’s certainly started to feel like it, so I thought it was time to post my winter gaming bucket list.

Play a game that takes place in winter or play winter levels.

I took this from my fall bucket list and changed it to winter. Tons of games have snowy/icy/wintery levels or areas. Uncharted 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider come to mind as games I’ve played in the past few years with wintery settings. And Celeste’s mountain setting leads to a cold and snowy atmosphere whether it takes place in winter or not.

Listen to some snow tunes.

Okay, I also took this one from my fall bucket list. But I think there are loads more video game tracks with distinctly wintery vibes, and I’m trying to post at least one track each week for Music Monday that goes along with this theme – in addition to my winter themes post.

Decorate!

I am very excited about the crafting element in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and while it’s not out for another 98 days, I can’t wait to do some winter decorating. But in the meantime there’s always the other Animal Crossing games, Stardew Valley, The Sims, Minecraft…And if you decorate a tree in your home, video game themed ornaments are always fun!

Go snowboarding or skiing or…shield surfing!

Anyone remember 1080 Snowboarding on the Nintendo 64? There are many games that let you do winter sports from the comfort of your own (warm) home. If you have a wii fit board, you can do some simulated skiing and snowboarding with We Ski and Snowboard (I had tons of fun with this). In Breath of the Wild you can go shield surfing on the snow-covered mountains. There are also games like Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics.

I hope everyone’s enjoying their winter time gaming sessions! What’s on your winter gaming bucket list?
