There’s no theme this week, just a few new favorites and a few old favorites. I think this is a very eclectic mix this week, with music of very different styles from very different games. Hope you enjoy!
Gris, Pt. 1 – Gris
I just played this game for the first time this week and this is the first track that plays in the game. The music is part of what makes the opening scene so incredibly powerful. I knew immediately that I was going to love this game.
Temple of Droplets – The Minish Cap
This is my winter-y track of the week. While I don’t feel like I need a remake of this game (although a switch port would be nice – I want to be able to play every Zelda game on my switch haha), I would totally be down for one just to have the remastered soundtrack.
Step: The Plain – Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Super Smash Bros. series takes a lot of its music from other games, but its got some great original music too. I love this one from the Subspace Emissary – it’s a great spin on the main theme, and it has a super adventurous feel.
Supper Woods – Chicory
Chicory may not be out yet, but part of its soundtrack is! And the composer of Celeste’s soundtrack, Lena Raine, is also this game’s composer, so you know it’s going to have a great soundtrack. I’m looking forward to hearing the rest of the music.
A Thief’s End – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Naughty Dog knows how to make a good game, and they always have great soundtracks. And I think this track fits really well thematically with the game. It’s Nate’s last outing, so it has sort of a melancholy feel to it, and it also reminds us of how much Nate’s already been through.
That’s all for this week, I hope you’ve enjoyed listening!
I adore the Gris soundtrack! It’s my most listened to album of the year.
