Pokémon Sword and Shield have been out for a week and a half now and I’m ready to post my favorite tracks from the game. As usual, pokémon has produced a fantastic soundtrack.
I haven’t quite finished the game yet (been working on my pokedex and doing a bit of shiny hunting – I got a koffing!), but if any tracks stick out to me from the remainder of the game I’ll be sure to mention them in a future post.
Slumbering Weald
What a great way to start a game! Instead of heading to the pokémon professor straight away, you get your starter from the Champion, then you and your best friend head into a dangerous forest to rescue a wooloo. And this is the music that plays.
Mysterious Being (Legendary Battle Theme 1)
I was trying to decide on this track or the previous for this post since they’re so similar, but I decided to go with both. Though they share the wolf howling melody, I couldn’t leave out the beautiful strings from the forest theme or the intense bass of this track.
Stow-on-Side
This one’s just good. I love this track’s instrumentation. I look forward to hearing it on my daily revisits to Stow-on-Side.
Spikemuth
Though your time in Spikemuth is brief, it sure makes an impression with its music. Especially when the guitar solo kicks in around one minute in. Spikemuth feels like it should be the center of a huge underground music scene, rather than just a pokémon gym.
Route 10
Route 10’s theme is so cool, I wish it was longer! And perhaps it would be if the route itself was. The music succeeds in making you feel like you’re on the road to facing a great challenge.
Glimwood Tangle
I love forest themes in pokémon and this game is no exception – this is the second forest theme I’ve picked! Maybe some of you are tired of it after the 24 hour livestream, but I love that it does that ‘mysterious forest’ thing that is common in pokémon. And this is one of my favorite areas in the game.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s tracks, happy listening!
