Music Monday: Toby Fox

A few days ago, Toby Fox, creator of Undertale, announced that he composed a track for Pokémon Sword and Shield, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to share some of my favorite Toby Fox tracks. He’s had a pretty impressive year, with Undertale’s Sans joining Super Smash Bros. along with his most famous track, Megalovania, and composing for Little Town, another game by Game Freak. So without further ado, here are a few awesome tracks from Toby Fox:

Megalovania

I couldn’t create this post without including Megalovania. Featured in an Earthbound hack, Homestuck, and Undertale, this energetic track is Toby Fox’s most famous. I actually posted a harp cover of the track for the covers edition of Music Monday a couple weeks ago.

Black – Homestuck

Alright, this one’s not from a video game, but it might be my absolute favorite Toby Fox track, and it’s one of my favorite tracks from Homestuck.

Fallen Down (Reprise) – Undertale

This is the track that first comes to mind when I think about Undertale’s ost. It gives me the same feelings that I believe Homestuck gives off when playing the pacifist route. For me, Fallen Down feels like the pacifist route’s theme.

Heartache – Undertale

I mean, what an appropriately titled song. It masterfully conveys that epic boss battle feel while also reminding you that you’re fighting your mother figure, and neither of you really want to harm each other. If I can ever actually bring myself to play the genocide route, I know this part will be difficult to get through.

Preview of Pokémon Sword and Shield track

This is a one minute preview of the track Toby Fox composed for Pokémon Sword and Shield. It definitely gives off some Megalovania vibes. I’m excited to see where it turns up in the game (which comes out in just 11 days).

Toby Fox has lots more tracks that I love, and these are just a few of my favorites. Do you have any faves from Toby Fox?
